Ray G. Clifton

U.S. Veteran

Ray G. Clifton, 80, of Lincoln, passed away on July 3, 2012 at his residence. Ray was born on July 25, 1931 in Cisco, IL, the son of Gilbert and Ethelda (Stratman) Clifton. He married Helen McCabe on November 26, 1948 in Mayfield, KY. Surviving are his wife; Helen Clifton of Lincoln, daughters; Judy (Larry) Dano, Sue (Tim) Donath, and Paula (Steve) Snodgrass all of Lincoln, son; Mark Clifton of Lincoln, brother; Roy (Cheryl) Clifton of Monticello, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brother (Robert Clifton), and half-sister (Mary Sprague). Ray worked as a meat cutter and a telephone lineman. He served in both the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve National Guard. He was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, and was a Shriner. Private family services will be held with Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Shriner Children’s Hospital.
